Julie Barreda was born and raised in the United States, with a family that blended palettes of international cultures. Her culinary experience and love of “presentation” began at an early age, always observing those around her, primarily her parents, grandparents and great-grandmother. She studied in Spain and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. In the mid 1980’s she founded brainchild, Private Affair Gourmet Catering on Florida’s Gulf Coast; one of the area’s premier catering companies. From there she continued as a consultant and lent helping hands to Williams and Sonoma, Art Smith Companies and The Oprah Winfrey Show, to name a few. Julie is best known for her love of people, the art of presentation, her knowledge of food and wine and her love for working with children. She has been honored to have contributed to many special events nationwide including putting her magic touch on the James Beard House. Like many other good cooks, Julie Barreda creates wonderful meals and has a special way of handling any task with ease and elegance.
